Become an Advocate
Science shows that when anglers make small changes in how they catch, handle, and release a fish it can have positive outcomes once that fish swims away. Adopting science-based best practices increases the survival rates of fish, helps fish return to their normal behavior as quickly as possible after release, and is a quick and effective way to put conservation in to practice.
Show your support and commitment to using science-based best practices for catch-and-release by becoming an Advocate. This is a free program and the only expectation is that you read our Principles and Tips, and then agree to do your best to adopt them. Join us in creating healthy and more resilient recreational fisheries.
Adopting science-based best practices is a personal evolution and work in progress for all of us — especially as the science continues to advance as well. Our goal is to create a supportive community for learning and sharing best practices for catch-and-release. While we encourage you to help fellow anglers learn about and use science-based best practices, we do not support finger pointing or shaming and kindly ask that you refrain from such practices.
